Volunteers are a tremendous asset as they help expand our resources and “presence” in the community. We are eternally grateful for all that they do to assist our staff and support our mission. Employment Horizons utilizes volunteers in the following ways:
Our Community Advisory Board is a culmination of business and community leaders who assist Employment Horizons in building and strengthening relationships in the community. Our Board of Trustees provides leadership for maximum organizational effectiveness through personal commitment, meeting attendance, committee participation, gift giving and solicitation. Our Social Media Committee provides a forum for business and community leaders to assist in promoting Employment Horizons and our mission through various social media platforms. Our Raffle Committee sells $1 chances to our 50/50 drawing, with the winner to be pulled at our Annual October Dinner. And we are always looking for a few individuals who enjoy tricky tray auctions and are interested in obtaining and putting together auction “baskets” for our October event.
We are also seeking Gardening Volunteers - individuals who enjoy time outdoors and can help plant, weed, water, and maintain our memorial garden and shrub bed. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who no longer have a flower garden or who have always wanted one! A perfect opportunity for young and "not so young" volunteers.
Daniel Rubin (pictured), who received his Eagle Scout Award after completing a project at Employment Horizons, came to us as an individual with a plan to make the property outside of our building as beautiful as the mission inside! We have also had volunteers organize book collections for our book bin and mini-clothing drives to coincide with our clothing drives, which are held twice a year. We’re always happy to consider those willing to donate their time via their area of expertise.
